A well-established law firm is seeking an experienced Immigration Attorney licensed in Puerto Rico. This role involves representing clients in immigration proceedings, managing caseloads, and collaborating with a dedicated team of attorneys and legal professionals. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in immigration law, excellent client communication skills, and the ability to handle complex legal matters related to removal defense and family-based immigration.

Location

  • San Juan, Puerto Rico

Duties

  • Provide legal counsel and explain immigration concepts to clients

  • Represent clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals

  • Manage a caseload of diverse immigration cases

  • Conduct intake interviews and visit detained individuals at detention centers

  • Prepare and review immigration applications, including family-based petitions and removal defense cases

  • Submit legal briefs and supporting documentation for various immigration matters

  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community organizations on immigration law changes

  • Develop case strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for court and USCIS interviews

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in immigration law

  • Strong interpersonal and client advocacy skills

  • Ability to manage cases independently and meet deadlines

  • Experience with family-based petitions, humanitarian relief, EOIR, detained cases, citizenship applications, and other USCIS matters

  • Familiarity with case management software (preferred)

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in Puerto Rico (active and in good standing)

Skills

  • Expertise in immigration law and removal defense

  • Strong research, analytical, and writing skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively with legal teams and support staff

  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (preferred but not required)
