Associate Attorney - Litigation

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney with 3+ years of litigation experience to join its team in New York, NY. This role involves handling pre-trial litigation for complex construction cases, premises liability, and other general liability matters in state and federal courts. The position offers exposure to high-level case management, client interaction, and the potential for trial experience.

Duties:

• Manage all aspects of pre-trial litigation, including pleadings, discovery, and case development.
• Take and defend depositions, ensuring thorough preparation for each case.
• Draft and argue motions and appeals in both state and federal courts.
• Communicate regularly with clients, opposing counsel, and experts to support case strategy.
• Analyze risk factors and work toward resolutions that align with client goals.
• Support general liability and construction cases, with potential exposure to maritime law.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 3 years of litigation experience, with a background in construction, premises liability, or general liability preferred.
• Ability to independently manage a caseload and meet billable requirements.
• Strong organizational, research, and writing skills.
• Trial experience is a plus, with opportunities to gain trial exposure within the role.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Licensed to practice law in New York State; additional bar admissions are beneficial.
