A law firm in Sacramento, CA is seeking a dedicated Immigration Attorney to join their team. The candidate will manage their own caseload, interact directly with clients, and collaborate with the firm's Immigration Team of Attorneys and legal assistants. This role involves explaining immigration concepts, representing clients in various proceedings, and preparing a range of immigration applications. The ideal candidate will have 1 to 4 years of experience in immigration law, be bilingual in Spanish, and possess exceptional interpersonal skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of immigration cases, ensuring timely and effective handling of each case.
  • Explain complex immigration concepts to clients and present strategic legal solutions.
  • Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Conduct intakes with detained individuals at centers to gather necessary information.
  • Prepare and file a variety of immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based immigration petitions.
  • Review and make necessary adjustments to immigration applications and packets.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations regarding changes in immigration law.
  • Meet with potential clients for strategic consultations and determine the appropriate immigration strategy.
  • Develop case strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for court and USCIS testimony.
  • Provide legal analysis to identify potential benefits and prepare legal briefs for various immigration cases.

Requirements:

  • At least 1 to 4 years of experience in Immigration Law.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage a caseload and advance legal cases effectively.
  • Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian cases, EOIR, Detained cases, Citizenship, and other USCIS applications.
  • Familiarity with case management software preferred.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in California.

  • Proficiency in using case management software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
