Job Overview:
A distinguished law firm is seeking a highly experienced Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation Counsel or Partner to join its renowned Employee Benefits & Executive Compensation Practice group. Remote candidates may also be considered on a case-by-case basis. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive legal advice on health and welfare benefit plans, including regulatory compliance, plan administration, and negotiation of service provider agreements. This role requires strong experience in proactive counseling on compliance and litigation issues related to health and welfare plans.

Location:

  • Cleveland, OH

Duties:

  • Advise businesses on all aspects of health and welfare benefit plans, including wrap plans, cafeteria plans, and flexible benefits arrangements
  • Provide counsel on Affordable Care Act (ACA), COBRA, HIPAA, Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act, and other relevant laws
  • Draft and negotiate service provider agreements for employee benefit plans
  • Ensure compliance with TiC and CAA 21 regulations
  • Resolve issues related to the administration of health and welfare benefit plans
  • Offer proactive legal advice on compliance, regulatory, and litigation issues affecting employee health and welfare benefit plans
  • Collaborate with clients to develop solutions for benefit plan-related matters and mitigate potential risks

Requirements:

  • Significant experience in health and welfare benefit plan legal matters
  • In-depth knowledge of ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, and related compliance requirements
  • Proven ability to draft and negotiate service provider agreements
  • Strong experience providing legal advice to employers on health and welfare plan compliance and litigation issues
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach
  • Ability to manage complex client needs in a fast-paced environment

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction

Skills:

  • Expertise in health and welfare plan regulations and compliance
  • Excellent negotiation and drafting skills
  • Strong interpersonal and client communication abilities
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to handle complex regulatory issues
