Patent Agent

A law firm is seeking a qualified Patent Agent focusing on Intellectual Property (IP) matters. The ideal candidate should possess a background in chemical engineering or chemistry and have a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience. Membership with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is required.

Job Overview:

The Patent Agent will contribute to the firm's IP practice, specifically in drafting and patent prosecution. The role requires a strong chemistry background, exceptional written and oral communication skills, excellent academic credentials, and robust organizational and analytical abilities.

Duties:

• Conducting patent searches and analyzing prior art.
• Drafting patent applications in collaboration with inventors and attorneys.
• Prosecuting patent applications before the USPTO.
• Providing technical expertise in the evaluation of inventions and patentability.
• Collaborating with legal teams to ensure compliance with relevant IP laws and regulations.
• Keeping abreast of developments in patent law and industry trends.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or chemistry (advanced degrees strongly preferred).
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in patent-related activities.
• Membership with the USPTO.
• Strong chemistry background.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or chemistry (Advanced degrees preferred).

Certifications:

• Membership with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
