A law firm seeks a mid-level Associate to join its Financial Regulatory & Compliance Practice in Miami, FL. This full-time position offers the opportunity to work with a diverse range of clients across various industries. The practice focuses on both domestic and international financial services regulatory and compliance matters, with an emphasis on banking, money services, payment systems, and FinTech. The firm offers a competitive compensation package, along with an excellent benefits program. Fluency in Spanish is preferred but not required.

Duties

  • Provide regulatory and compliance advice to clients in the financial services sector, particularly in banking, money services businesses, payment systems, and FinTech.
  • Assist clients with licensing, chartering, and navigating financial services laws and regulations, such as BSA/AML, sanctions, third-party risk management, and consumer compliance.
  • Work with clients to ensure compliance with applicable financial regulations and industry standards.
  • Support enforcement actions and regulatory inquiries related to financial services and compliance matters.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to guide clients on evolving financial regulations and compliance obligations.
  • Draft legal memoranda, reports, and other written materials for client matters.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, demonstrating a commitment to excellent service and proactive problem-solving.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to address complex legal challenges in a team-oriented, supportive environment.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in financial services regulatory and compliance, particularly within banking, money services businesses, payment systems, or FinTech.
  • Strong understanding of key financial services laws and regulations, including BSA/AML, sanctions, third-party risk management, and consumer compliance.
  • Enforcement experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct legal research and provide thoughtful analysis on complex regulatory matters.
  • Ability to draft and review legal documents, reports, and correspondence with strong attention to detail.
  • Proactive, diligent, and team-oriented with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Must be admitted to The Florida Bar or eligible for admission to The Florida Bar.
  • Fluency in Spanish is preferred, but not required.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to The Florida Bar or eligibility for admission to The Florida Bar.
