Job Overview: A well-established law firm, located in Tampa, FL, is seeking an experienced Health Law Associate Attorney with expertise in data privacy and security. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge and a deep understanding of privacy laws and data security practices. They will work closely with the firm’s Health Law team and contribute to various projects, providing valuable legal insights in an ever-evolving field. The role requires the ability to manage client relationships and collaborate effectively across teams.

Duties:

• Provide legal guidance on state and federal privacy laws and regulatory compliance within the healthcare sector.
• Advise clients on matters related to data protection, management, and security, including data flows and data maps.
• Assist in incident response and mitigation of data privacy breaches.
• Draft and negotiate complex commercial contracts related to data privacy, security, and healthcare.
• Work alongside colleagues and clients to develop strategies for compliance and best practices in privacy law.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changing regulations, especially within the healthcare industry.

Requirements:

• Approximately 5 years of experience in Health Law with a focus on data privacy and security.
• Proven ability to work with both legal and non-legal professionals across various teams.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to foster productive relationships with clients and colleagues.
• Demonstrated experience in drafting and negotiating contracts.
• In-depth understanding of technology-related legal matters, particularly data privacy and security.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Bar admission in the state of Florida or eligible for admission.

Skills:

• Knowledge of state and federal privacy laws, including HIPAA and HITECH Act.
• Experience with incident response planning and data breach management.
• Strong contract drafting and negotiation abilities.
• Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
• Ability to adapt to new technologies and privacy regulations.
