A law firm seeks a Trusts & Estates Associate to join its Private Clients Group in Greenwich, CT. This position offers an outstanding opportunity to become part of a collaborative and team-oriented environment, where the attorney will gain experience in sophisticated estate planning and administration. The role includes drafting legal documents and engaging directly with a diverse and high-net-worth client base, including individuals, families, family offices, closely held businesses, and charitable organizations.

Duties

  • Provide legal support in estate planning and estate administration matters.
  • Draft legal documents related to trusts and estates, including wills and powers of attorney.
  • Communicate directly with clients to understand their needs and provide tailored legal advice.
  • Assist in the administration of estates, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop comprehensive estate planning strategies.
  • Maintain meticulous records and manage case files effectively.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 4 to 6 years of experience in estate planning and estate administration is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Admission to the Connecticut Bar or willingness to seek admission.
  • New York Bar admission is preferred but not required.
  • Strong aptitude in tax law and estate planning principles.

Education

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
  • LL.M. in Taxation or Estate Planning is preferred but not required.

Certifications

  • Active bar admission in Connecticut; New York admission is a plus.

Skills

  • Strong academic credentials, particularly in tax and estate planning.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative approach to teamwork.
