A law firm in Orange County, CA is seeking an Immigration Attorney to join their team. Reporting to the Sr. Associate Attorney, the candidate will manage their caseload, interact with clients, and collaborate with the Immigration Team. This role involves explaining immigration concepts, representing individuals in immigration proceedings, and preparing diverse immigration applications.

 

Duties:

  • Explain immigration concepts and present strategic solutions to clients.
  • Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings at the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Manage a workload of immigration cases.
  • Visit detention centers to conduct intake with detained individuals.
  • Prepare diverse immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based petitions.
  • Review and adjust immigration applications/packets as necessary.
  • Present to and work with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations on changes in immigration law.
  • Conduct strategic consultations with potential clients to determine necessary immigration strategy.
  • Develop strategies and prepare clients/witnesses for court/USCIS testimony.
  • Provide legal analysis to determine possible case benefits for clients.
  • Prepare and submit legal briefs for various immigration cases.
  • Utilize bilingual skills (Spanish) as needed.
  • Demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills.

 

Requirements:

  • 1-4 years of experience in Immigration Law.
  • Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian cases, EOIR, Legal Writing, Detained, Citizenship, and other USCIS applications.
  • Experience with Case Management Software preferred.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

 

Certifications:

Certification to practice law in California.

 

Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to develop effective legal strategies.
  • Proficiency in legal research and analysis.
