Senior Attorney needed for Oakland office

Job Overview:

A law firm is seeking a Senior Criminal Defense Attorney with over 6 years of felony criminal defense experience. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in writing motions, attending preliminary hearings, and conducting felony trials. Location:

Duties:

• Advocate for clients in court to secure the best possible outcomes.
• Develop and implement strategies to support clients at each stage of the legal process.
• Mentor Junior Associates and provide coaching and feedback.
• Represent the firm at case management meetings and provide insight into legal strategies.
• Ensure all legal documents are filed within required deadlines.
• Research legal issues and draft motions prior to court hearings.
• Maintain professional and respectful relationships with clients.
• Ensure timely attendance and proper dress in court.
• Participate in regular goal-setting and performance reviews.
• Stay current with legal changes and participate in ongoing training.

Requirements:

• A minimum of 6 years of felony criminal defense experience.
• Experience with drafting and arguing motions, including post-conviction motions.
• A minimum of 10 felony jury trials and preliminary hearings.
• Ability to travel throughout the Bay Area, including Alameda County.
• Knowledge of online case management systems.
• Strong dedication to providing excellent client service and advocating zealously for clients.
• Admission to the California Bar and in good standing.
• Ability to attend court in the Bay Area.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Active membership in the State Bar of California.
