Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking a Data Privacy and Cybersecurity Associate Attorney with 5-7 years of experience to join its team. This role offers opportunities to work on both privacy litigation and transactional matters, including vendor and customer service agreements. The ideal candidate will have experience with state and federal privacy laws, such as CCPA, GLBA, and HIPAA, and will be involved in breach response, compliance counseling, and risk management. The position is open to candidates across multiple office locations, with a hybrid schedule that includes weekly in-office attendance.

Location:

Duties:

  • Advise clients on compliance with privacy and cybersecurity laws, including CCPA, GLBA, HIPAA, and state-specific regulations
  • Handle privacy-related litigation, including class actions
  • Draft and negotiate vendor and business customer service agreements
  • Support breach response efforts and provide risk management and compliance counseling
  • Contribute to business development and client relationship management
  • Collaborate with partners and colleagues on various privacy and cybersecurity matters
  • Participate in professional development initiatives and knowledge-sharing activities

Requirements:

  • 5-7 years of experience in data privacy, cybersecurity, or related fields
  • Proven experience in privacy litigation or transactional work, including vendor agreement drafting
  • In-depth knowledge of state privacy laws, sector-specific regulations, and federal privacy laws (CCPA, GLBA, HIPAA)
  • Experience in breach response, compliance counseling, and risk management
  • Admission to the State Bar
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and client management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and effectively

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to the State Bar
  • CIPP/US certification is a plus, but not required

Skills:

  • Expertise in data privacy and cybersecurity law
  • Strong litigation and transactional drafting capabilities
  • Knowledge of breach response and risk management
