Duties

• Maintain strict confidentiality and objectivity in all client matters
• Prepare for hearings, research legal issues, and provide clear strategic advice to clients
• Advocate for clients in court and work to secure the best possible outcomes
• Apply post-conviction remedies as needed
• Stay updated on changes in criminal law and ensure compliance with new legislation
• Advise clients on the direct and collateral consequences of their cases
• Draft and submit legal motions and filings on time, meeting both internal and external deadlines
• Ensure punctuality for court appearances and work, maintaining professional attire at all times
• Foster strong client relationships and provide excellent customer service
• Participate in ongoing legal training and professional development
• Engage in networking and community events as part of firm’s outreach
• Accurately track billable hours and maintain timekeeping integrity

Requirements

• 1-5 years of criminal defense experience, with a focus on misdemeanor cases
• High energy, proactive attitude, and eagerness to learn
• Strong research, writing, and communication skills
• Must be punctual and well-organized
• Excellent time management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Ability to maintain client confidentiality and provide quality service under pressure
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
• Active membership in good standing with the California State Bar
• Willingness to travel throughout Alameda County and surrounding areas for case-related duties

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree required
