Job Overview:
A law firm located in Santa Monica, CA is seeking an experienced eDiscovery Review Attorney to provide essential support in the discovery of electronically stored information during litigation. The role requires proficiency in eDiscovery review platforms and document review workflows. This attorney will manage temporary contract attorney teams and collaborate with case teams, overseeing the efficient handling of electronic discovery processes.

Duties:

  • Led and supervised strategic document review and production efforts
  • Offer guidance to case teams on document review management, including preparation of review protocols and training
  • Advise attorneys and clients on best practices for eDiscovery in litigation and regulatory investigations
  • Manage temporary review attorney hiring and administrative tasks in collaboration with the Director of Contract Professionals
  • Supervise teams of contract attorneys, track performance metrics, and address quality control concerns
  • Conduct substantive document reviews using platforms like Relativity
  • Review and code documents for relevance, confidentiality, privilege, and other issues
  • Assist with privilege review, redactions, and preparation of privilege logs
  • Help case teams with fact development, deposition preparation, and targeted searches
  • Ensure final quality control and compliance with workflows by working with LEDS professionals
  • Recommend and design efficient, defensible document review strategies
  • Contribute to keyword development, document sampling, and cost-reduction strategies
  • Stay updated on eDiscovery laws, including federal and state rules regarding privilege and proportionality
  • Collaborate with LEDS analysts, managers, and trial services specialists
  • Adhere to firm policies and procedures for risk and cost management
  • Support management in improving eDiscovery services and efficiency
  • Travel to other offices and client sites as necessary
  • Track and report billable and non-billable hours accurately
  • Perform other duties as required

Requirements:

  • Ability to work extended hours, including weekends, when necessary
  • Willingness to travel as needed
  • 2+ years of experience in complex litigation document review and eDiscovery projects
  • Active, good-standing membership with the California State Bar
  • Proficient in document review platforms, particularly Relativity

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree
