A law firm in Baltimore, MD is seeking an Environmental Associate Attorney with 0-3 years of experience. The ideal candidate should have a strong desire to practice environmental law, possess excellent academic credentials with coursework in environmental law, exceptional communication skills, advanced research capabilities, and a commitment to learning. Admission to the Maryland Bar or willingness to become admitted is required. Experience with environmental regulatory compliance, due diligence, and litigation is preferred, along with a background in scientific or engineering fields.

Job Duties:

  • Advise clients on environmental regulatory compliance matters.
  • Conduct due diligence for environmental assessments in transactions.
  • Interact with regulators and regulated entities in enforcement actions and related matters.
  • Assist in litigating environmental disputes and government compliance issues.
  • Draft legal memoranda, pleadings, and correspondence related to environmental law.
  • Conduct legal research on complex environmental issues and regulations.
  • Provide strategic legal advice to clients on environmental risk management.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and interdisciplinary teams on environmental matters.
  • Stay updated on developments in environmental law and regulations.
  • Assist in client development and participate in business development activities.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Maryland Bar or eligibility for admission within six months.
  • 0-3 years of experience practicing environmental law, preferably in a law firm setting.
  • Strong academic credentials with coursework in environmental law.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly developed research and analytical abilities.
  • Experience with environmental regulatory compliance and due diligence preferred.
  • Background or degree in a scientific or engineering field is a plus.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
