Duties:

• Draft and prosecute patent applications in various technical fields, primarily focusing on electrical engineering, software, and mechanical engineering.
• Represent clients in patent litigation matters, including preparing legal briefs, conducting discovery, and managing case strategy.
• Provide legal counsel to clients regarding intellectual property portfolio management and strategies for IP protection.
• Collaborate with other legal professionals to address complex issues related to patent law and other forms of intellectual property.
• Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel in both written and oral formats.

Requirements:

• 3-6 years of experience in patent prosecution, including drafting patent applications.
• Registration with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is required.
• Barred in South Carolina.
• Expertise in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field such as physics or mathematics.
• Familiarity with other intellectual property areas (trademarks, copyrights) is a plus.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

Education:

• A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is required.

Certifications:

• Registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
• Active Bar membership in South Carolina.

Skills:
