Job Overview

A prominent law firm in Chicago, IL, is seeking an experienced attorney to join its Institutional Response Group. This role offers a chance to contribute to a premier Title IX and civil rights practice, with responsibilities centered on investigations, policy development, and compliance in diverse institutional settings. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in trauma-informed approaches and regulatory frameworks, demonstrating exceptional communication and leadership skills.

Duties

  • Conduct investigations under Title IX, Title VI, Title VII, or related civil rights or criminal laws.
  • Address cases involving sexual and gender-based harassment, protected class discrimination, child or elder abuse, and similar issues.
  • Assist institutions and governmental agencies in designing and implementing trauma-informed, impartial prevention and resolution processes.
  • Develop and revise written policies, procedures, and educational materials.
  • Ensure compliance with Title IX, the Clery Act, and other related regulatory frameworks.
  • Provide advice on systems design, governance, and infrastructure improvements.
  • Collaborate with K-12 schools, higher education institutions, corporations, hospitals, and non-profits to address institutional misconduct.
  • Engage in non-litigation solutions for safety, security, and compliance challenges.

Requirements

  • Experience with Title IX investigations and compliance frameworks.
  • Familiarity with the Clery Act, child protection regulations, and similar policies.
  • Strong organizational and analytical abilities.
  • Proven leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication capabilities.
  • Ability to travel as needed.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active attorney license in Illinois (IL).
