A law firm seeks an enthusiastic and detail-oriented associate attorney to join its civil defense team in McAllen, TX. This position primarily involves personal injury defense, where the associate will work closely with senior attorneys to manage all aspects of client defense. Duties

  • Represent clients in personal injury defense cases, including all aspects of litigation from pre-trial through post-trial.
  • Prepare legal documents, including motions, pleadings, discovery requests, and settlement agreements.
  • Attend hearings, depositions, and client meetings.
  • Research and analyze legal issues related to cases, and collaborate with senior attorneys to develop effective strategies.
  • Communicate regularly with clients to provide updates and ensure their satisfaction with the firm’s services.
  • Manage multiple cases simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met and tasks are completed in a timely manner.
  • Support trial preparation, including organizing evidence and assisting in trial strategy.
  • Participate in firm-wide professional development activities and ongoing legal education.

Requirements

  • Admission to the Texas State Bar, in good standing.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in legal research and familiarity with platforms like Westlaw is a plus.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Texas State Bar license (required).
