Job Overview:
A prominent law firm is seeking an experienced Wage and Hour Associate Attorney to handle class and PAGA (Private Attorneys General Act) actions. The ideal candidate will have 3-7 years of experience in defending wage and hour claims in both state and federal court. This role involves preparing case evaluations, conducting discovery, attending mediations, and performing law and motion work, with additional exposure to arbitration and trial work.

Location:

  • Irvine, CA

Duties:

  • Defend class and PAGA claims and actions in state and federal court.
  • Conduct document and data reviews related to wage and hour claims.
  • Prepare case evaluations for clients in relation to wage and hour class/PAGA actions.
  • Prepare and respond to discovery requests in class/PAGA matters.
  • Conduct and defend depositions.
  • Perform law and motion work, including dispositive motions, motions to compel arbitration, and discovery-related motions.
  • Prepare for and attend mediations in class/PAGA actions, including drafting mediation briefs.
  • Attend court hearings, status conferences, and argue dispositive motions.
  • Handle arbitration and/or trial proceedings.

Requirements:

  • 3-7 years of wage and hour litigation experience, specifically with class and PAGA actions.
  • Proven track record in defending class and PAGA claims in state and federal courts.
  • Strong skills in preparing and responding to discovery requests.
  • Experience conducting and defending depositions.
  • Expertise in law and motion work, including dispositive motions and motions to compel arbitration.
  • Experience with arbitration and trial work.
  • Strong research, writing, and communication skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Must be admitted to practice law in the State of California.

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of wage and hour laws, including class and PAGA actions.
  • Excellent legal research and writing abilities.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage complex litigation independently.
  • Proficient in legal software and Microsoft Office Suite.
