Duties

  • Maintain organized client files, ensuring information is readily available for attorneys, paralegals, and staff.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and paralegals to resolve cases efficiently.
  • Draft legal documents, including briefs, motions, pleadings, contracts, affidavits, and settlement agreements.
  • Conduct legal research and represent clients at hearings and legal proceedings.
  • Provide legal counsel to clients with the assistance of senior attorneys.
  • Assist clients with documentation and legal advice on property damage and personal injury matters.
  • Communicate with clients through phone, email, and in-person meetings throughout the case.
  • Coordinate with insurance carriers and adjusters regarding liability, uninsured, and underinsured claims.
  • Investigate and prosecute personal injury claims.
  • Document case status using a case management system and establish case timelines based on the client’s medical status.
  • Review case statuses regularly and resolve issues that may delay case progression.
  • Negotiate settlements with insurance carriers, assessing overall case value and insurance coverage.
  • Prepare demand packages and work towards favorable settlements for clients.
  • Evaluate and negotiate liens involving Medicare, Medicaid, health insurance, Worker’s Compensation, and other entities.
  • Advise case managers on personal injury claim settlements.
  • Prepare legal documents such as Notices of Claim, Federal Tort Claims Act forms, and other related petitions.
  • Represent clients in Municipal Law Section 50-H Hearings, Mediations, and Arbitrations.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admitted to the Vermont State Bar.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in PC applications, Windows, and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active Vermont State Bar membership.
