Job Overview:

Duties:

  • Conducting in-depth scientific and technical research to support patent prosecution and intellectual property strategies.
  • Prepared, filed, and prosecuted patent applications before the USPTO.
  • Analyzing scientific and technical documents, such as research papers, patent literature, and client disclosures.
  • Drafting detailed and precise patent applications, amendments, and responses to office actions.
  • Providing technical and strategic advice to clients regarding patentability, freedom-to-operate, and validity issues.
  • Assisting attorneys with litigation support, including research and preparation of technical documents.
  • Conducting patent landscape analyses to identify potential patent opportunities and risks.
  • Collaborating with inventors, researchers, and clients to understand and protect their innovations.

Requirements:

  • PhD (or MD with research experience) in immunology, molecular biology, cell biology, virology, microbiology, oncology, gene editing, gene therapy, or a related field.
  • Post-doctoral experience is desirable.
  • Registration number with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is desirable.

Education:

  • PhD (or MD with research experience) in a relevant field.

Certifications:

  • USPTO registration number (desirable).

Skills:

  • Ability to conduct thorough scientific and technical research.
