Job Overview: A law firm in San Francisco, CA, is seeking a Bio Patent Counseling Associate Attorney with 4+ years of patent counseling and prosecution experience, along with a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related discipline. The ideal candidate will have experience representing biotech companies and investors in strategic international patent portfolio development and life cycle management, non-infringement and invalidity analysis, post-grant proceedings, and IP due diligence. Prior pharmaceutical industry experience is a plus. The candidate must be registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel to biotech companies and investors on patent matters related to strategic international patent portfolio development and life cycle management.
  • Conduct non-infringement and invalidity analysis for biotech patents.
  • Represent clients in post-grant proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
  • Conduct intellectual property due diligence for biotech-related transactions.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 4+ years of patent counseling and prosecution experience.
  • Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related discipline.
  • Experience representing biotech companies and investors.
  • Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Education:

  • Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related discipline.

Certifications:

  • Registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of patent law and regulations.
  • Excellent analytical and research skills.
  • Effective communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Prior experience in the pharmaceutical industry is a plus.
