Job Overview:

A law firm in Washington, DC, is seeking a highly experienced Product Liability Automotive/Regulatory Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will have over 7+ years of specialized experience in automotive regulatory matters and a robust background in product liability defense, federal administrative law, and government investigations. The role requires a strong understanding of regulatory frameworks, excellent advocacy skills, and a proven track record in case management.

Duties:

  • Represent clients in matters related to automotive product liability and regulatory compliance.
  • Manage cases involving the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and other consumer safety agencies.
  • Develop and implement defense strategies in product liability cases.
  • Conduct thorough investigations and gather evidence to support case development.
  • Handle all aspects of case management, including fact investigation, discovery, and trial preparation.
  • Provide legal advice and guidance on federal administrative law and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with clients, regulatory agencies, and internal teams to address and resolve complex legal issues.
  • Stay current with developments in automotive regulatory law and product liability defense.

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of experience in automotive regulatory law and product liability defense.
  • Experience with NHTSA matters is strongly preferred; familiarity with other consumer safety agencies is a plus.
  • Demonstrated expertise in federal administrative law, government investigations, and compliance.
  • Proven ability to manage cases from inception to resolution, including fact investigation and defense strategy development.
  • Strong written communication and oral advocacy skills.
  • Admission to practice law in Washington, D.C., or the ability to immediately waive in.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the Washington, D.C. Bar or eligibility for immediate waiver.

Skills:

  • Deep knowledge of automotive regulatory frameworks and product liability laws.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in case management and legal research.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
