Mid-level Patent Litigation Associate

Job Overview:
A well-established law firm is seeking a mid-level Patent Litigation Associate to join its Intellectual Property and Technology group. This role involves handling patent, trademark, and copyright litigation, including drafting complaints, managing discovery, preparing contentions, taking depositions, and drafting dispositive motions and settlement agreements. The ideal candidate will be a motivated self-starter with strong litigation skills and a desire to take ownership of key case aspects.

Location:

• Minneapolis, MN

Duties:

• Handle all aspects of patent, trademark, and copyright litigation
• Draft complaints, motions, and briefs
• Manage discovery, including drafting and responding to discovery requests
• Prepare contentions and legal arguments
• Take and defend depositions
• Negotiate and draft settlement agreements
• Work collaboratively with a team to develop litigation strategies

Requirements:

• 3-4 years of litigation experience, preferably in patent litigation
• Experience with all aspects of litigation, including discovery management, deposition preparation, and brief writing
• Patent Bar eligibility required
• Admission to practice in Illinois or eligibility to waive in
• Strong research, writing, and analytical skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Prior experience at a regional or national law firm preferred

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Patent Bar eligibility required
• Admitted to the Illinois Bar (or eligible for waiver)
