Job Overview: A premier law firm is seeking a highly skilled Senior Immigration Attorney to manage a diverse caseload and provide legal guidance to clients in immigration matters. The successful candidate will be responsible for representing clients in removal proceedings, preparing immigration applications, and offering strategic legal advice in a collaborative environment. Location:

  • Oak Park, IL

Duties:

  • Explain immigration concepts and present strategic solutions to clients
  • Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals
  • Manage a caseload of immigration cases and client interactions
  • Visit and conduct intake interviews with detained individuals at detention centers
  • Prepare and file various immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based immigration petitions
  • Review immigration applications and make necessary adjustments
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations on changes in immigration law
  • Meet with potential clients for strategic immigration consultations
  • Develop case strategy and prepare clients and witnesses for court or USCIS testimony
  • Provide legal analysis to identify potential benefits for clients' cases
  • Prepare and submit legal briefs for a variety of immigration cases

Requirements:

  • 5-8 years of experience practicing immigration law
  • Strong ability to manage a caseload and move legal cases forward
  • Record of success in immigration law and working with complex cases
  • Preferably bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian, EOIR, Detained, Citizenship, and USCIS applications
  • Familiarity with Case Management Software preferred
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admitted to the Bar in the relevant jurisdiction
