A law firm seeks a seasoned Senior Attorney specializing in first-party property litigation to join its dedicated legal team. The position involves handling complex property and casualty insurance claims, providing strategic counsel, and representing clients in litigation and dispute resolution proceedings.

Duties

  • Claims Management: Evaluate, negotiate, and resolve property and casualty insurance claims, including homeowners and commercial property cases.
  • Litigation and Dispute Resolution: Represent clients in trials, arbitrations, and mediations, developing robust defense strategies for complex insurance disputes.
  • Legal Research and Compliance: Conduct in-depth legal research on state-specific insurance laws, regulations, and court rulings to provide accurate legal advice.
  • Policy Analysis: Review and interpret insurance policies, providing coverage opinions and assessing liability in line with policy terms and conditions.
  • Client Representation: Serve as lead counsel for policyholders, claimants, or insurance companies, advising on claims disputes, coverage concerns, and settlement negotiations.
  • Case Preparation: Draft and file legal documents, including briefs and motions, in compliance with court procedures.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with insurance professionals, including adjusters and underwriters, to develop cohesive claim resolution strategies.
  • Risk Mitigation: Counsel clients on proactive measures to reduce potential claims or disputes.
  • Court Appearances: Attend hearings, trials, depositions, and conferences across Georgia jurisdictions.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local laws impacting property and casualty claims.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience handling property and casualty claims or insurance litigation.
  • Expertise in Georgia insurance laws and regulations, including compliance with state insurance department requirements.
  • Proven courtroom and litigation experience with the ability to manage complex caseloads independently.
  • Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills for effective client representation and interaction with opposing counsel.
  • Familiarity with working for insurance carriers or corporate clients is preferred.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • An active member in good standing with the Georgia State Bar.
