CFIUS and International Trade/Export Controls Associate AttorneyJob Overview: A law firm in Princeton, NJ is seeking a skilled Associate Attorney with 2-4 years of experience in international trade regulatory, compliance, and enforcement matters. The ideal candidate will have specific expertise in handling matters related to the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), export controls, and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). General knowledge of the Defense Priorities & Allocation System (DPAS) is preferred. The candidate must be admitted and actively barred in New Jersey.Duties and Responsibilities:Advise clients on CFIUS filings and related national security reviews, including strategy development and preparation of submissions.Counsel clients on export control regulations, including ITAR and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).Guide compliance with U.S. sanctions programs and international trade laws.Assist clients in navigating the Defense Priorities and Allocations System (DPAS).Conduct regulatory due diligence for international mergers, acquisitions, and other transactions subject to U.S. trade controls.Represent clients before relevant regulatory agencies, including the U.S. Departments of Commerce, State, and Treasury.Assist in the development of internal compliance programs related to international trade laws and regulations.Respond to inquiries and investigations initiated by federal regulatory agencies.Conduct risk assessments and internal audits to ensure compliance with applicable laws.Provide training to clients on export control compliance and regulatory updates.Requirements:2-4 years of relevant experience in international trade regulatory, compliance, and enforcement matters.Experience with CFIUS reviews and filings.In-depth knowledge of U.S. export control laws, including ITAR and EAR.A general understanding of DPAS is preferred.Must be admitted and actively barred in New Jersey.Education:Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.Certifications:Admission to the New Jersey State Bar (required).Skills and Competencies:Strong knowledge of CFIUS, ITAR, and EAR.Excellent legal research and writing skills.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Ability to work independently and in a team setting.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.High attention to detail and organizational skills.Strong client management and interpersonal skills.
