A leading law firm in San Jose, CA is seeking an Entry-Level Immigration Attorney to join its immigration law team. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a recent law school graduate or an attorney with limited experience in immigration law to gain valuable hands-on experience in the field. Duties:

  • Explain immigration concepts and provide strategic legal solutions to clients
  • Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals
  • Manage a caseload of immigration matters
  • Conduct intakes with detained individuals at immigration centers
  • Prepare a variety of immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based immigration petitions
  • Review and make necessary adjustments to immigration applications and petitions
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations on immigration law changes
  • Meet with potential clients for consultations and determine appropriate legal strategies
  • Develop case strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for court appearances or USCIS testimony
  • Provide legal analysis to identify potential benefits for clients' cases
  • Prepare and submit legal briefs for various immigration matters

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated interest in immigration law through law school clinics, volunteer work, or internships
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree
  • Active bar admission (candidates awaiting bar admission may also be considered)
  • A collaborative team player who is eager to work with colleagues and contribute to case strategies
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to manage a caseload and move cases forward effectively
  • Experience with case management software preferred

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active bar admission (California bar or eligibility to waive into the California bar is preferred)
