Job Title: Bankruptcy Attorney

Job Overview

A respected law firm in Dallas, TX is seeking a dedicated Bankruptcy Attorney to provide exceptional legal support and representation to creditors involved in foreclosure, bankruptcy, and related litigation matters. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment, where compliance, quality, and risk management are priorities.

Duties

  • Coordinate with attorneys and support staff on procedures in bankruptcy practice, including steps, documents, and local filing requirements.
  • Offer loan-level recommendations, ensuring policies align with the Federal Bankruptcy Code, local rules, and case law.
  • Review various bankruptcy filings, including proofs of claim, notices of mortgage payment changes, and notices of fees and costs.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, certifications, objections, orders, memoranda, and letters.
  • Represent clients in hearings, settlement conferences, and other legal appearances.
  • Keep clients updated on case progress and developments through appropriate channels.
  • Promptly handle communications with opposing counsel, court staff, trustees, mediators, and other involved parties.
  • Escalate case matters as necessary.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to engage effectively across all levels.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, problem-solving, and analytical capabilities.
  • Proven ability to manage priorities and workflow in a high-demand, high-volume environment.
  • Capacity to collaborate and communicate with a diverse range of legal and client stakeholders.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active Bar membership in good standing in any U.S. state.

Skills

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Prior experience in representing secured creditors/mortgage services (preferred).
  • Experience with bankruptcy or default mortgage industry (preferred).
