The successful candidate will have a proven track record in managing complex family law cases, both in and out of the courtroom.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Represent clients from case intake through trial, ensuring high-quality legal representation at all stages.
  • Prepare and file pleadings, motions, and other legal documents.
  • Manage a caseload efficiently, balancing multiple cases while meeting deadlines.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues and clients to ensure comprehensive case strategies.
  • Lead and participate in mediations, settlement negotiations, and trial preparation.
  • Provide clear and strategic legal advice to clients on family law matters.
  • Maintain a professional, respectful relationship with clients, opposing counsel, and the court.
  • Prepare for and participate in trials, with experience in first-chair or significant second-chair roles.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in family law practice, with a focus on complex cases.
  • Strong trial experience, including first-chair or significant second-chair involvement.
  • Ability to manage cases independently from start to finish.
  • Proven experience in drafting legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and discovery responses.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and manage a demanding caseload.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in Minnesota.

Skills:

  • Expertise in family law matters such as divorce, child custody, adoption, spousal support, and child support.
  • Strong understanding of family law discovery and legal strategy.
  • Knowledge of financial records analysis, business valuations, and tracing in family law cases.
  • Ability to engage with clients and opposing counsel professionally and diplomatically.
