Duties:

  • Provide legal support to senior attorneys in handling cases related to special education, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Conduct legal research and draft documents such as briefs, pleadings, and correspondence.
  • Assist in managing student-related litigation and interactions with key administrative bodies, including the California Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH), California Department of Education (CDE), and Federal Office for Civil Rights (OCR).
  • Advise clients on matters related to student services and disabilities, ensuring compliance with applicable federal and state laws.
  • Participate in client meetings and collaborate with internal teams on strategy development.

Requirements:

  • 0-5 years of legal experience in student services or disability law.
  • Strong research and writing skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, providing support to senior attorneys.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with clients and colleagues.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and complex issues with professionalism and empathy.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the California State Bar or ability to obtain admission within a reasonable time frame.
