The ideal candidate will have a strong background in advising clients on various labor and employment law matters, including compliance, litigation, and policy development. Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Client Advisory:
    • Provide expert advice on employment and labor law compliance, policies, and best practices.
    • Counsel clients on preparing and enforcing employment contracts, restrictive covenants, and other agreements.
  • Litigation:
    • Led and managed litigation cases before the Ohio Civil Rights Commission, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and the Department of Labor.
    • Represent employers in the enforcement and defense of restrictive covenants.
    • Handle cases related to employment discrimination (Title VII, ADEA, ADA), FMLA, whistleblower litigation, wage and hour issues, and other employment disputes.
  • Policy Development and Compliance:
    • Draft and review employment policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
    • Advise on affirmative action compliance, OSHA, COBRA, ERISA, and other labor-related matters.
  • Contracts and Agreements:
    • Prepare and negotiate separation agreements, employment contracts, and restrictive covenants.
    • Guide breach of contract issues and termination counseling.
  • Collaboration and Project Management:
    • Work closely with multiple attorneys on various assignments, demonstrating strong project management skills.
    • Collaborate effectively with the legal team to deliver comprehensive legal solutions to clients.
  • Research and Legal Analysis:
    • Conduct thorough legal research on complex labor and employment issues.
    • Stay updated on evolving laws and regulations impacting clients.

Requirements

  • 6-9 years of experience advising clients on labor and employment law matters.
  • Significant litigation experience, particularly before state and federal agencies.
  • Proven track record representing employers in restrictive covenant enforcement and defense.
  • Extensive knowledge of labor and employment issues, including employment discrimination, FMLA, affirmative action compliance, OSHA, COBRA, and ERISA.
  • Experience drafting and reviewing employment policies and agreements.

Education and Certifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in the state of Ohio.
  • Strong academic credentials.
