Trusts & Estates (Estate Planning) Attorney

A law firm seeks a seasoned Trusts & Estates Attorney to join its team in Uniondale, NY. The ideal candidate will have at least 6 years of experience in estate planning and estate administration. This role involves drafting various estate planning documents, preparing estate tax returns, and offering expertise in both estate law and tax matters. The firm offers a collaborative work environment with hybrid working hours, allowing for both in-office and remote flexibility.

Duties

• Draft and revise wills, trusts, and other estate planning documents.
• Prepare estate tax returns and manage tax filings related to estates.
• Provide legal advice on complex estate administration and planning issues.
• Work closely with clients to identify their needs and create comprehensive plans for asset management.
• Conduct research and stay current on relevant tax laws and estate planning strategies.
• Analyze estate-related issues and propose practical, innovative solutions.
• Communicate directly with clients to guide them through estate planning processes and document execution.
• Mentor junior attorneys or support staff, fostering professional development within the team.

Requirements

• A minimum of 6 years of experience in estate planning and estate administration.
• Proven ability to draft legal documents related to trusts, wills, and estates.
• Experience in preparing estate tax returns and managing related filings.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to solve complex legal issues.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage a diverse range of tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• A portable book of business is a plus.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• Ability to get admitted in New York if not already licensed.
