A law firm seeks an associate attorney to support its foreclosure practice in Leesburg, Virginia. This position presents an exciting opportunity for an attorney to develop expertise in foreclosure law while working collaboratively with a dedicated team. The ideal candidate will have experience in legal research, document review, and providing legal counsel in the foreclosure process, along with an ability to manage client and staff expectations efficiently.

Duties

  • Subject Matter Expertise

    • Develop and share expertise with colleagues and clients to advance cases and meet client goals.
    • Stay up to date on legal developments affecting assigned jurisdictions.
    • Research and address unfamiliar legal issues to expand the knowledge base.
    • Engage in discussions with senior attorneys to ensure legal compliance and consistency in operations.
    • Provide timely, clear, and effective responses to legal inquiries from staff and clients.
  • Legal Review and Compliance

    • Review, verify, and ensure the legal accuracy of documents, ensuring they meet local requirements and client expectations.
    • Correct documents as needed for legal sufficiency and compliance.
    • Track daily tasks to ensure timely completion and escalate issues when necessary.
  • Staff and Process Oversight

    • Mentor and collaborate with junior staff to meet client and legal requirements.
    • Provide legal oversight and guidance on the preparation of documents and progress of files.
    • Assist in the development of strategies to meet timeline goals and address file delays.
    • Communicate effectively with internal teams and external clients to address issues and ensure smooth file progression.
  • File Management

    • Apply legal judgment to remove obstacles that hinder file progress and meet client deadlines.
    • Regularly review client files, identify aged files, and strategize solutions for movement.
    • Participate in workgroups and client discussions to resolve delays and improve efficiency.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active admission to the relevant state bar association with "Good Standing" status.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in foreclosure law or related legal practice.
  • Strong proficiency with Windows, MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel), and Adobe/Nuance Power PDF.
  • Ability to adapt to new technologies and legal tools.
  • Experience in providing legal counsel, document review, and case management.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to meet deadlines.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active admission to the state Bar Association in good standing.
