A law firm is seeking an experienced Environmental Litigation Associate Attorney to join its Tampa, FL office. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both federal and state environmental laws, including compliance, enforcement, transactions, and litigation. This position requires excellent research, writing, and analytical abilities, particularly in the context of managing cases involving remediation under CERCLA. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, a team player, and possess outstanding academic and professional credentials. Admission to practice law in Florida is mandatory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Environmental Litigation:
    Represent clients in environmental litigation, handling cases related to enforcement of federal and state environmental regulations, including CERCLA, RCRA, Clean Air Act, and Clean Water Act.
  • Compliance Advisory:
    Advise clients on federal and state environmental regulatory compliance, assisting in understanding and adhering to applicable laws and avoiding violations.
  • Transactional Support:
    Provide legal counsel on environmental issues related to business transactions, including risk assessment, regulatory compliance, and due diligence.
  • Remediation Case Management:
    Manage representation of clients in environmental cases involving remediation efforts under state and federal laws, with a focus on sites requiring cleanup under CERCLA.
  • Legal Research and Writing:
    Conduct extensive legal research and prepare well-constructed legal briefs, memoranda, pleadings, and other documents related to environmental matters.
  • Client Consultation:
    Regularly consult with clients to update them on legal developments, provide strategic advice, and help them navigate complex environmental regulations.
  • Collaboration and Case Strategy:
    Collaborate with partners, associates, and legal staff to develop case strategies, ensuring the successful resolution of client issues.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Experience:
    • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in environmental litigation or environmental law.
  • Licensure:
    • Must be admitted to practice law in the state of Florida.
  • Environmental Law Expertise:
    • Extensive knowledge of both state and federal environmental statutes and regulations, including CERCLA, RCRA, and other major environmental laws.
  • Skills:
    • Strong legal research and writing skills, with the ability to analyze complex environmental statutes and regulations.
    • Ability to manage environmental litigation, particularly cases involving remediation and enforcement actions.
  • Attributes:
    • Self-motivated and able to work independently while also contributing to team-based projects.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate complex legal concepts to clients.
    • Outstanding academic and professional credentials.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.):
    Must hold a J.D. from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

    Must be currently admitted to practice law in Florida or be eligible for admission.
