Job Overview: A law firm specializing in insurance litigation seeks a motivated Insurance Litigation Associate Attorney with 2-4 years of experience in complex litigation and coverage matters, mainly focused on first-party property insurance coverage claims. The ideal candidate will join a dynamic team dedicated to representing clients in insurance disputes at various stages of litigation.

Duties:

  • Manage a caseload of insurance litigation matters, primarily first-party property insurance coverage claims.
  • Conducted legal research and analysis and drafted pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys on case strategy, including conducting depositions and preparing for hearings and trials.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and internal stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admitted to practice law in California; eligibility for admission considered if not currently admitted.
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience in insurance litigation, preferably focusing on first-party property insurance coverage claims.
  • Strong academic credentials.

Certifications/Bar Admissions:

  • Admission to the State Bar of California required.
  • Admission to other State Bars is advantageous.

Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools and software.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with insurance defense litigation.
  • Demonstrated success in handling depositions, hearings, and trials.
  • Prior experience in a law firm environment preferred.

Recently opened through a merger with an established litigation firm, this firm's Los Angeles office enjoys a very solid reputation among both plaintiffs and defendants in an array of business fields, including entertainment, insurance, medicine, finance, and government contracting. Attorneys bill 2000+ hours/year, but enthusiastically discuss the firm's small, intimate environment and the interaction it affords. The firm generally prefers to hire laterals.
