A law firm in Raleigh, NC, is seeking a motivated Junior to Mid-Level Construction Associate Attorney to join their team. The candidate will collaborate closely with partners and senior associates on construction disputes, including claims of delay, disruptions, and defects, as well as on construction contracting matters. While prior experience in construction litigation and contracting is preferred, candidates with a strong interest in construction law and related industries will be considered.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the handling of construction disputes through all phases of litigation, arbitration, and mediation.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on construction law issues, including contract interpretation and construction defect claims.
  • Draft and review legal documents, including pleadings, motions, briefs, and contracts related to construction projects.
  • Attend meetings and participate in negotiations with clients, contractors, and opposing counsel.
  • Collaborate with experts, consultants, and witnesses in preparation for hearings and trials.
  • Provide strategic advice and counsel to clients on construction project management and risk mitigation.
  • Assist in drafting and negotiating construction contracts, subcontracts, and related agreements.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the North Carolina State Bar; admission to additional jurisdictions is advantageous.
  • 0-5 years of litigation and/or contracting experience at a large or mid-size law firm, with a preference for construction law experience.
  • Strong academic credentials and writing skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with clients and colleagues.
  • Prior experience or background in construction, engineering, or architecture industry before law school is preferred.
