Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist employers with internal and external audits or investigations conducted by administrative agencies such as the California Labor Commissioner, U.S. Department of Labor, and local agencies like the Office of Labor Standards Enforcement.
  • Conduct internal audits of pay practices and ensure compliance with state and federal wage and hour regulations.
  • Provide substantial advice and counsel on labor and employment law matters, including internal leave and accommodation policies and processes.
  • Represent clients in litigation involving labor and employment law issues, including wage and hour disputes and employment discrimination claims.
  • Develop and implement strategies to address and resolve compliance issues and potential legal risks.
  • Review and draft policies and procedures related to employment law compliance, including employee handbooks and workplace practices.
  • Advise clients on best practices for managing labor and employment issues and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys and legal professionals to develop case strategies and deliver high-quality legal services.
  • Stay informed on changes in labor and employment laws and regulations to provide accurate and up-to-date legal advice.

Requirements:

  • 6+ years of experience focusing primarily on employment law audit and compliance work.
  • Significant experience with audits and investigations conducted by administrative agencies, including the California Labor Commissioner and the U.S. Department of Labor.
  • Experience in conducting internal audits of pay practices and wage and hour compliance.
  • Proven track record in providing advice and counsel on employment law matters.
  • Strong litigation experience, with the ability to handle complex employment law cases.
  • Excellent academic credentials.
  • Active license to practice law in California.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active California State Bar license.
