A law firm seeks a dedicated Associate Attorney to join their team in a remote capacity. The ideal candidate will work closely with supervising attorneys and support staff to manage client cases, assist with legal strategy development, and ensure all legal processes are followed diligently. This position offers a fantastic opportunity for an attorney with strong research, writing, and client management skills, who is ready to take on a dynamic caseload, including hearings, mediations, trials, and arbitrations. The successful candidate will be proactive in managing client relationships and maintaining a high level of case awareness.

Duties

  • Client and Case Management: Work alongside the supervising attorney to develop legal strategies and maintain ongoing client communications.
  • Billable Hours: Maintain 35 billable hours per week, completing assigned tasks promptly.
  • Legal Research & Drafting: Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and other legal documents.
  • Client Communication: Respond to client inquiries promptly (within 24 hours), providing clear updates on case progress.
  • Court and Hearing Attendance: Attend and participate in hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials as needed.
  • Strategy Meetings: Prepare for and participate in strategy meetings, discussing case facts, strengths, weaknesses, and upcoming deadlines.
  • Case Evaluation: Continuously assess cases, ensuring that client goals are being met and adjusting strategies as necessary.
  • Compliance: Ensure that all statutory deadlines are met and properly recorded in the case management system (Clio).
  • Professional Development: Stay current with legal developments and complete continuing legal education as required.

Requirements

  • Experience: 4-7 years of experience as a practicing attorney.
  • License: Active membership in the State Bar of California.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Organization: Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Research & Analytical Skills: Strong ability to conduct legal research and apply critical thinking to case management.
  • Time Management: Ability to effectively manage time, meet deadlines, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Technology Proficiency: Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD): Degree from an accredited law school.
  • Bachelor’s Degree: Required before law school.

Certifications

  • Active California State Bar License: Required.
