Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm in Austin, Texas is seeking a dedicated and experienced Immigration Attorney to join its team. This is an excellent opportunity for an associate attorney to further develop their career in immigration law while managing a caseload, interacting with clients, and collaborating with a team of skilled attorneys and legal assistants. The ideal candidate will have experience in handling various immigration cases and a passion for providing legal solutions to clients in need.

Location:

  • Austin, TX

Duties:

  • Explain immigration law concepts and present strategic solutions to clients.
  • Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Manage a caseload of immigration cases efficiently and effectively.
  • Visit detention centers and conduct intake interviews with detained individuals.
  • Prepare and submit diverse immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based petitions.
  • Review immigration applications and packets, making necessary adjustments.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations on changes in immigration law.
  • Meet with potential clients for strategic immigration consultations and develop case strategies.
  • Prepare clients and witnesses for court and USCIS testimony.
  • Provide legal analysis to clients to identify potential case benefits.
  • Draft and submit legal briefs for various immigration cases.

Requirements:

  • 1 to 4 years of experience in immigration law.
  • A team player with strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage a caseload and move legal cases forward.
  • Preferably bilingual (English/Spanish).
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with family-based petitions, humanitarian cases, EOIR, detained cases, citizenship, and other USCIS applications.
  • Experience with case management software preferred.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed and in good standing to practice law in Texas (or eligible to seek admission).

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of immigration law, including removal defense and family-based immigration petitions.
  • Excellent legal research and writing skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple cases.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Proficiency in case management software is a plus.
