A law firm is seeking a Projects (Regulatory) Counsel for their Washington DC office.

 

Job Overview:

The Projects (Regulatory) Counsel will focus on the regulatory aspects of energy project development, financing, purchase and sale, and operation, with a particular emphasis on power purchase agreements, interconnection agreements, and grid and transmission issues, especially within the renewable energy sector.

 

Duties:

  • Handle regulatory aspects of energy project development, financing, purchase and sale, and operation
  • Draft and negotiate power purchase agreements and other offtake agreements
  • Advise on interconnection agreements and grid and transmission issues
  • Provide legal counsel on matters related to FERC electricity regulations
  • Review and analyze project finance or project documents for energy transactions
  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements

 

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of legal experience in FERC electricity regulations
  • Exposure to project finance or project documents for energy transactions
  • Knowledge of renewable energy industry regulations is preferred

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school

 

Certifications:

Admission to the Bar in Washington DC or eligibility for admission

 

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research databases

 

Experience:

4+ years of legal experience with respect to FERC electricity regulations, preferably with exposure to project finance or project documents for energy transactions.
