The ideal candidate will have a strong background in working with the Committee on Foreign Investments in the United States (CFIUS), export controls, and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, advising clients on complex issues related to international trade and regulatory matters.Key ResponsibilitiesAdvise clients on matters involving the Committee on Foreign Investments in the United States (CFIUS), ensuring compliance with national security review procedures.Provide counsel on United States export controls, including the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).Conduct risk assessments and assist clients in identifying and addressing compliance risks related to international trade and export control regulations.Represent clients in enforcement matters, including investigations, audits, and voluntary disclosures related to export controls and international trade violations.Draft and review filings related to CFIUS, ITAR, and export control matters, ensuring all necessary documentation is accurate and timely.Provide general legal advice and strategy on U.S. sanctions, import/export laws, and cross-border transactions.Stay up-to-date with changes in international trade regulations and policies, particularly those impacting U.S. businesses and foreign transactions.Assist with internal investigations and audits to assess and ensure compliance with U.S. government regulatory requirements.Advise on compliance with the Defense Priorities & Allocation System (DPAS) and provide strategic counsel to clients on the intersection of export controls and government contracts.Collaborate with senior attorneys and partners to develop and execute client strategies and solutions tailored to specific industries and business needs.Job RequirementsExperience: 2-4 years of experience in international trade regulatory, compliance, and enforcement matters.Specific Expertise:Proven experience with CFIUS regulations and national security review procedures.Proficiency in advising clients on U.S. export controls, including ITAR and EAR.Knowledge of sanctions programs administered by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) is a plus.General knowledge of the Defense Priorities & Allocation System (DPAS) is preferred.Bar Admission: Must be admitted to the California Bar and actively licensed to practice law in California.EducationJuris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.Skills and CompetenciesStrong legal research and writing skills.Excellent analytical skills and ability to assess complex legal and regulatory issues.Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal information to clients clearly and concisely.Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.Strong client management and interpersonal skills.Proficiency with legal research tools and familiarity with regulatory reporting systems related to CFIUS, ITAR, and export controls.
