Job Overview:
A law firm in Los Angeles, CA is seeking a dedicated Immigration Attorney specializing in EOIR (Executive Office for Immigration Review) to join their growing team. This position offers an exciting opportunity for a committed attorney to work on removal proceedings, family-based immigration petitions, and other crucial immigration matters. The ideal candidate will have experience representing clients in immigration court and before the Board of Immigration Appeals, with a focus on client interactions and case management.

Duties:

  • Provide expert legal counsel regarding immigration issues and develop strategic solutions for clients.
  • Represent detained and non-detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Manage a caseload, ensuring the effective handling of cases from start to finish.
  • Visit detained individuals at immigration detention centers for case intake and consultation.
  • Prepare and file various immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based petitions.
  • Review immigration packets, make necessary adjustments, and ensure completeness.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations on immigration law matters.
  • Conduct consultations with potential clients, assess needs, and develop strategic plans for their cases.
  • Prepare clients and witnesses for court appearances and USCIS testimony.
  • Offer legal analysis to clients, outlining potential case benefits and next steps.
  • Draft and submit legal briefs for a range of immigration cases.

Requirements:

  • 1-5 years of experience in immigration law, particularly in EOIR proceedings.
  • Proven ability to manage a caseload and move legal cases forward effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with clients, team members, and external organizations.
  • Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian Relief, EOIR cases, Detained Cases, Citizenship matters, and other USCIS applications.
  • Familiarity with case management software is preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admitted to practice law in the state of California.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the California State Bar.

  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to think critically and provide sound legal analysis.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
