A law firm seeks an associate attorney to join its dynamic litigation team in Tiburon, CA. This full-time role focuses primarily on employment defense and business litigation, with some medical malpractice insurance defense matters. The ideal candidate will be experienced in civil litigation and capable of managing cases independently while advancing them through procedural milestones and meeting strict deadlines.

Duties:

  • Handle a diverse caseload with a focus on employment defense, business litigation, and medical malpractice insurance defense.
  • Independently manage and advance cases, ensuring all deadlines and procedural steps are met.
  • Participate in all stages of litigation, including mediation, depositions, and motion practice.
  • Attend court appearances, presenting oral arguments, and representing clients in hearings.
  • Review and summarize records, legal documents, and evidence in preparation for case strategy.
  • Perform legal research and draft memoranda, pleadings, discovery responses, and letters.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and clients, providing regular case updates and strategic insights.
  • Contribute to the development of case strategies and assist in the preparation of key filings and legal arguments.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in civil litigation, with a focus on California state and federal courts.
  • Proven experience in mediations, depositions, motion practice, and attending court appearances.
  • Strong legal research skills and the ability to draft various legal documents such as memos, pleadings, and letters.
  • Experience in case strategy development and discovery process.
  • Must be a self-starter, accountable, punctual, and able to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work well in a team.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Creative problem-solver with a hardworking and proactive attitude.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:
