Litigation Associate Attorney

A law firm in Chicago is seeking a Litigation Associate Attorney. The Litigation Associate Attorney will handle a diverse caseload throughout Illinois, with opportunities to join national litigation teams. They will primarily defend product manufacturers in mass tort cases, including asbestos, hair relaxer, and talc litigation, with additional defense opportunities in gig-economy, transportation, and municipalities.

Duties:

• Trial preparation, including strategy discussions, discovery, records review, client interviews, and witness preparation
• Legal and factual research investigations
• Drafting briefs, memos, and client updates
• Attendance at depositions, hearings, and mediations
• Ability to work in the Chicago loop office and travel as required

Requirements:

• Active Illinois Bar License Required
• 2-4 years of experience, preferably in product liability, premises, and/or mass tort defense
• Strong academic credentials and writing sample required
• Previous litigation experience, including deposition and courtroom experience
• Participation in law review and/or moot court (a plus)
• Excellent writing, analytical, and communication skills
• Ability to thrive in a high-paced environment and meet strict deadlines
• Client-focused mentality
• Self-starter with the ability to handle multiple projects
• Detail-oriented
• Technologically savvy, proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel
• Active Michigan and/or Missouri Bar License (preferred)

Education & Certifications:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
