Duties

  • Assist senior attorneys, of counsel, and partners in handling a diverse range of student-related legal matters.

  • Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, correspondence, and supporting documents.

  • Participate in case strategy development and litigation preparation.

  • Support clients in navigating compliance with laws impacting students with disabilities.

  • Contribute to legal proceedings involving administrative agencies such as:

    • California Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH)

    • California Department of Education (CDE)

    • Federal Office for Civil Rights (OCR)

  • Interpret and apply laws related to special education and anti-discrimination statutes.

Requirements

  • 0-5 years of post-law school experience.

  • Strong legal writing and research capabilities.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for client and team interaction.

  • Interest or background in education law, particularly student services, and civil rights.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

  • Admission to the California State Bar (or pending admission).

Certifications

  • Active membership or eligibility to practice law in California.

Skills

  • Proficiency in interpreting legal codes related to:

    • The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)

    • Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act
