Job Overview

A leading law firm is seeking a Commercial Attorney to join its global Risk team. This position involves working across diverse legal, business, and ethical issues, drafting and negotiating client-facing contracts, and collaborating with multiple departments. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in contract law and demonstrate a proactive, solution-oriented approach to addressing client needs and ensuring compliance with firm policies.

Duties

  • Draft and negotiate complex client-facing agreements across various business sectors.
  • Ensure client contracts adhere to ethical standards and internal policy requirements.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate legal and business risks in client contracts.
  • Advise firm partners on client agreements and commercial or business-related requests.
  • Draft and manage templates, agreements, external communications, and internal processes.
  • Oversee responses to client compliance and risk-related audits.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Finance, Business Development, and Information Security.
  • Supervise administrative staff within the global Risk team.
  • Enhance the efficiency and scalability of commercial legal support.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in a top-tier law firm or in-house role focusing on client matters.
  • Proven experience in contract drafting and negotiation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and efficiency.
  • Ability to make risk-based assessments and solve problems with limited information.
  • Proactive, resourceful, and capable of working independently.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications and Skills

  • Active Bar membership in good standing.
  • Proficiency in legal research and document management tools.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and client-facing skills.
