Duties:

  • Handling general civil defense and workers' compensation defense cases caseload.
  • Drafting and reviewing legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and discovery materials.
  • Representing clients in circuit court and before the Illinois Workers' Compensation Commission.
  • Conducting depositions and preparing witnesses for testimony.
  • Engaging in settlement negotiations and mediation.
  • Conducting legal research and staying current with developments in relevant laws.
  • Communicating with clients to provide updates and legal advice.
  • Collaborating with senior attorneys and support staff on case strategies and management.
  • Attending court hearings, trials, and other legal proceedings.

Requirements:

  • 1-3 years of experience in civil defense and/or workers' compensation defense.
  • Experience in circuit court and the Illinois Workers' Compensation Commission is preferred.
  • Strong verbal communication and writing skills.
  • Ability to manage a high volume of cases efficiently.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Bar in the state of Illinois.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in legal research and writing.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective negotiation and settlement skills.
