A law firm in Denver, CO, seeks a skilled and motivated Labor and Employment Associate to join its team. The ideal candidate will have 2-4 years of experience handling a wide range of employment-related legal matters, including workplace discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, and wage and hour disputes. The role offers an opportunity to gain exposure to both litigation and advisory work, focusing on counseling employers and resolving complex labor and employment issues.

Duties:

  • Represent clients in employment litigation, including disputes related to workplace discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, and wage/hour violations.
  • Draft and file legal documents such as pleadings, discovery responses, motions, and memoranda.
  • Assist in advising public and private employers on day-to-day labor and employment issues, including compliance with state and federal laws.
  • Counsel employers on workplace policies and practices, ensuring legal compliance and risk mitigation.
  • Conduct legal research to support ongoing cases and provide accurate, timely legal advice.
  • Contribute to the development of training programs for employees on various employment law topics.
  • Handle traditional labor matters, such as unfair labor practices under the National Labor Relations Act and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on case strategy and client matters.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school with a strong academic record.
  • Admission to the Colorado Bar (additional state bar admissions, particularly in California, is a plus but not required).
  • 2-4 years of experience in labor and employment law, focusing on litigation and advisory work.
  • Proficiency in legal research, writing, and drafting documents related to employment disputes.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with clients and colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent decision-making, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a solid work ethic and a commitment to producing high-quality work.

Education:

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the Colorado Bar (other state bar memberships, especially in California, are a plus but not required).

Skills:

  • Exceptional legal writing, research, and oral communication skills.
  • Strong judgment and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to handle multiple legal projects simultaneously and efficiently.
  • Experience with workplace discrimination, harassment, wage/hour disputes, and traditional labor issues.
