Senior Claims Counsel

A law firm is seeking a Senior Claims Counsel to investigate, evaluate, and resolve liability insurance claims. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving abilities, a keen analytical mind for liability, damages, and coverage, and will develop effective resolution strategies.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Review, investigate, and evaluate claim notices, incident reports, correspondence, investigative reports, and technical documents.
• Determine coverage, liability exposure, and formulate resolution strategies.
• Establish and maintain claim reserves.
• Manage and coordinate litigation by hiring defense counsel and experts; review draft pleadings, litigation plans, budgets, and invoices.
• Document all contacts, communications, claim transactions, and maintain electronic claim files.
• Prepare detailed reports for management, clients, and other designated recipients.
• Travel as needed for mediation and client visits.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of insurance-related experience.
• JD Degree.
• Bar licensing required; must be able to obtain licensing as an independent claims adjuster in various states.

Skills:

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent writing and communication abilities.
• Proficiency in managing litigation processes and documentation.
• Ability to develop and execute resolution strategies.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) Degree.

Certifications:

• Bar licensing.
• State-specific independent claims adjuster licenses (as required).
