Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced and highly motivated Transactional Attorney to join its team, with a focus on representing clients in matters related to homeowners associations (HOA), real estate, and business law. This position offers the flexibility of working remotely while still being part of a collaborative and client-focused legal team.

Duties

  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, governing documents, and transactional agreements related to common interest developments and homeowner associations.
  • Advise clients, including HOA boards, property owners, and real estate developers, on compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Assist with governance matters, including interpretation and enforcement of community association governing documents.
  • Research and analyze legal issues related to real estate and business law, providing practical recommendations to clients.
  • Prepare opinion letters, resolutions, amendments, and other corporate governance documents.
  • Collaborate with litigation counsel when transactional matters become contested or require dispute resolution.
  • Manage multiple matters simultaneously, ensuring thorough and timely delivery of high-quality legal services.
  • Participate in client meetings, educational seminars, and board presentations to educate and counsel association leaders.
  • Maintain strong professional relationships with clients, staff, and fellow attorneys across practice groups.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in transactional law, preferably in real estate, HOA law, or business transactions.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of contract law, corporate governance, and real estate transactions.
  • Ability to work independently while effectively managing deadlines and client communications.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational abilities, and time management.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining composure and professionalism.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active membership in good standing with the California State Bar.

Skills

  • Strong drafting and writing abilities, including preparation of clear, concise legal documents.
  • Effective oral communication skills for client meetings, presentations, and team collaboration.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools such as Westlaw.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Word, including advanced formatting capabilities.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat, including document editing functions.
  • Ability to adapt to new legal technology and case management systems.
